Persels & Associates: Consumer Debt Representation from Experienced Lawyers

Persels & Associates, LLC is a law firm that was started in 1997. The firm is a pioneer in the field of offering "unbundled" legal services to individuals who could not afford traditional legal services. Using sophisticated computer technology the firm’s lawyers were able to offer individual services such as consultations, single document preparations, litigation support, and document review at very low prices. Persels & Associates grew to national proportions with lawyers licensed in all 50 states in the course of its first six years of operation. The framework for this new kind of legal practice uses Internet-based computer software that creates a virtual office for the firm’s attorneys. They are joined together by a central website that tracks their schedules and activities, processes work tasks, keeps records of client interactions, and processes document preparation. It is through this system that Persels & Associates is able to offer its clients in all 50 states representation in resolving their debt issues.

Calls to the firm are processed through a central call center staffed by paralegals. A staff of associate attorneys is available to deal with any immediate needs and to coordinate service delivery with the staff lawyers who are responsible for our clients’ affairs. Unlike most non-lawyer debt settlement companies, Persels & Associates assists its clients in dealing with any litigation that may be filed against the clients while they are attempting to compromise their debts. While our lawyers normally do not go to court with our clients, we do prepare answers to lawsuits, respond to discovery requests, file interrogatories and demands for production of documents against creditors seeking judgments, and assert exemptions to execution or garnishment that may be available under federal or state law. The firm also prepares and, with other firms, files federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act claims against creditors who abuse our clients in collection efforts.

Today the firm employs over 140 lawyers in the 50 states and has 25 central office staff attorneys.
